Over 180 participants at the colloquium discussed aspects of earth science in Atlantic Canada. At the final Saturday evening celebration, president Deanne van Rooyen announced the recipients of the Society’s medal, awards and the winners of the best student posters and talks.

We are deeply disappointed and saddened by the cuts made to academic programs at Laurentian University. Access to education in Northern Ontario will be seriously damaged and the community will lose a critical resource if this process continues. We stand with the Laurentian University community at this time and call on the Provincial Government of Ontario to work with the university community instead of destroying it.
