AGS Nelly Koziel Award

The Nelly Koziel Award is given to a person who recently has made a significant contribution to geoscience, beyond the call of duty, in the Atlantic Provinces. The award may be made to any member or friend of the Society.

The Nelly Koziel Award certificate and plaque reflect Nelly’s birthplace of Utrecht, The Netherlands with the theme of tulips. In particular, the certificate’s photograph shows tulips specially designated as a limited edition by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands. The 2019 winner, Tracy Webb, bought these Liberation 75 Commemorative tulips to honour Nelly, and planted them in her garden. They bloomed in spring of 2020, and Martha Grantham showcased them in her certificate design.
